During the space and solar system lecture we try to give children some sense of the enormous scale involved in the concept of "space". Part of the lecture focuses on the planets of our solar system where a linked-list story is used and acted out. This tends to be a very effective way for children to not only to remember all the planets but also to remember them in order of sequence with regards to distance from the sun.

Given enough time there are a series of fun exercises that help children to understand how celestial bodies remain in orbit rather than crashing into each other and also how geostationary satellites hold a fixed place in the sky whilst still being in an orbit. Throughout the lecture every effort is made to make the childrens' understanding of space relate to the their own terrestrial experience of life.
