SciTech offers a range of workshops that meet a number of curricular goals in Science and Technology.
The Workshops are often given in schools as 'Science Fair' activities or as extra-curricular Science Clubs with the emphasis on participation and fun.
The Workshops can be tailor-made to encompass a variety activities assembled to meet your school's particular needs. These are some of the activities we can provide:
Ice Cream |
Children use liquid Nitrogen and fresh cream to create the best tasting ice cream you will probably ever get!! |
Bubbles |
The children make them, get inside them, make them square, make them out of chocolate and discover why colours exist in soap bubbles. |
Perception & Illusion |
This fascinating workshop shows children that their brains correctly interpret their senses and they get to make 2D and 3D illusions. In some cases a giant perspective illusion is created on the ground which only works for video cameras in a fixed position in a building. |
Mind Blower! |
This can be given as a lecture or a workshop and the purpose of 'Mindblower' is to show children how powerful their own mental skills can be, particularly memory, which is a confidence builder. Children (or adults) discover some of the secrets of memory and learning at the end of which they will be able to memorise and recall by random number a list of 21 items. They will be taught how to create and use linked lists through which they will gain an introduction to mind mapping. |
